Many people within the United States have a growing interest in the therapeutic benefits of ayahuasca and are seeking it out as a tool to assist in healing from PTSD, depression, and anxiety and to gain an enhanced spiritual connection with life.
The United States has been making some progress over the last few years in embracing the therapeutic value of plant medicines. We are seeing a growing number of cities setting precedents with decriminalization initiatives and even, in some cases, the legalization of psychedelic therapy.
While it is certainly a step in the right direction and we hope these initiatives will pave the road to full legalization and therapeutic application, psychedelic substances such as ayahuasca are still illegal at a federal level in the United States, which makes offering ayahuasca retreats illegal.
For that reason, among others, New Life Ayahuasca has chosen beautiful Costa Rica for our home. We offer ayahuasca retreats in Costa Rica all year long. Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and spending time in its abundance of nature is therapy in and of itself.
We also believe there is a great deal of therapeutic value in getting away from your current environment to really focus on the ayahuasca experience and commit to healing. While ayahuasca can offer great value and insights on its own, the environment you are in afterward will significantly impact your integration process and how well you are able to internalize the messages you have received.

CEREMONIES
A shaman is a person who interacts with the spiritual realm through altered states of consciousness.
Matthew has dedicated himself to mastering his craft. He has completed many master plant dietas and has learned valuable lessons in his years of facilitating ceremonies that have made him skilled in navigating energy, communicating with spirits, and creating a safe container for all participants. He has the support of many spiritual allies and protectors.
The ayahuasca shaman is responsible for guiding the experience. The ceremonial music is one of the most influential elements of the ayahuasca experience.
At New Life Ayahuasca, this includes Icaros (traditional medicine songs), guitar, drums, gong, singing bowls, bells, kalimba, and flute. Matthew has been passed down generational Icacros from his teachers, and he has developed his own unique style of chanting.
Matthew, a highly sensitive and intuitive empath, adapts the songs of the ceremony to meet the energy of the room. The songs of the spirit come to him, and his powerful voice carries them through the space. This is why it is so important to us to keep our groups intimate so that the energetic space is maintained with respect to each individual's experience.

Located in one of the 5 Blue Zones of the world, set against a backdrop of breathtaking tropical dry forest, New Life Ayahuasca Costa Rica’s eco cabinas invite you to indulge in the beauty and simplicity of nature.
The ayahuasca Costa Rica retreat facility was designed to blend into the environment that surrounds it. Each of our 10 cabins was built with wood harvested directly from the 9-acre property. Our pool and cool water jacuzzi are nestled amongst local flora and fauna. We receive regular visits from macaws, howler monkeys, caotis, and iguanas.
The retreat at New Life Ayahuasca Costa Rica is a testament to the harmonious coexistence between comfort and ecological mindfulness, offering an unforgettable experience that honors the earth and rejuvenates the soul.
All meals are prepared with care by Jeanae using locally grown and sourced ingredients. We follow a relaxed ayahuasca diet, providing food that is vegan, nutritious, colorful, and flavorful.
WiFi is available although we discourage the use of electronics prior to the ceremony to focus on the intention for the journey ahead.
We limit our ayahuasca retreat groups to 14 so we can provide individualized attention and support.

Hi! We are Jeanae and Matthew, owners of NLA. We have both experienced significant life transformation with the assistance of plant medicine, first with iboga and then ayahuasca. Ayahuasca is generally considered to be safe when used properly, however, there are known risks associated with its use. The primary concern is interactions between ayahuasca and other medications which could many adverse effects, even death. We do not take this responsibility lightly. To ensure the safety of all our guests, we require every potential participant to complete a medical questionnaire over the phone prior to booking.
