Ayahuasca Costa Rica One Day Ceremony

We get many people messaging us asking if they can join us for a single ceremony. Unfortunately, we do not offer any one day ayahuasca ceremonies for a number of reasons.

The first is that ayahuasca should be taken seriously and respected. It is an incredibly powerful plant medicine that should be approached with reverence and intention.  Many of the people who approach us for single ceremonies are vacationing in Costa Rica and want to add an ayahuasca ceremony as an afterthought, rather than being driven with a purpose to explore themselves.

Another reason we do not offer any ayahuasca one day ceremonies is that it feels irresponsible to offer the medicine in such a way, without guaranteeing a safe place with support as one processes the experience. Ayahuasca can bring up intense revelations, emotions and even uncover deep-seated traumas, so it is important to us that we hold space for that process without sending people on their way back into the world immediately after.

If you are feeling called toward ayahuasca, the greatest opportunity you have for a therapeutic experience is to commit to a retreat. Retreats aren't one size fits all, and it may take some time, research, and exploration to find the retreat that works best for you, but having an environment that is focused on your healing and processing will offer the most opportunity for growth.

Ayahuasca Retreats in Costa Rica are offered year-round.

The goal of our ceremonies is to create a safe and therapeutic atmosphere that encourages each participant to explore and journey within themselves, to confront the darkness, and embrace the light. It is only through this duality and embracing all parts of ourselves that we can truly know ourselves and find balance.

Matthew Mormello, our ayahuasquero, leads all of our ceremonies. Matthew has been involved with plant medicine since 2011, first with Iboga in Mexico on HBO's VICE and then again in Costa Rica. In 2014 he felt called to work more intimately with ayahuasca and started traveling to Peru, completing plant medicine dietas under the guidance of his teacher, famed shaman Don Ron Wheelock. He has participated in hundreds of ceremonies and has evolved into a strong and compassionate ceremonial facilitator. He strives to create a safe healing environment for all our participants.

Our ceremonies are based on the Peruvian traditions, are performed in darkness, and are guided by Icaros, or medicine songs. Each ceremony begins with cleansing rituals to prepare the space. From there, the night is guided through Matthew's powerful Icaros along accompanied by a variety of other instruments. Ceremonies last about 3 - 4 hours.

Matthew drinks the brew at every ceremony with the group so he can navigate the energy of the room. Jeanae and Jason are always there to assist as non-participants.

The ayahuasca retreat at New Life Ayahuasca is not your typical jungle ayahuasca experience. We understand the importance of privacy and personal space during such a profound experience.

Our expansive facility offers a comfortable environment for such an intense process.  We have common areas to socialize, a large pool, fire pit and nature areas to explore.

All meals are home-cooked with care by Jeanae using locally grown and sourced ingredients and follow the ayahuasca diet. WiFi is also available although we discourage the use of electronics prior to the ceremony to focus on the intention for the journey ahead.

We provide complimentary pick-up and drop-off from Liberia (LIR) International Airport to our retreat in a small beach town just outside Tamarindo, Guanacaste.

We limit our ayahuasca retreat groups to 12 so we can provide individualized attention and support.

Hi! We are Jeanae and Matthew, owners of NLA. We have both experienced significant life transformation with the assistance of plant medicine, first with iboga and then ayahuasca. We both came from backgrounds filled with addiction, depression, and just an overwhelming feeling of being lost. Finally, after many failed attempts through traditional modalities, we were able to gain a new perspective on life and realize deep healing through plant medicine. It is with this humble respect and gratitude for ayahuasca that we have created a program for others seeking to find balance in life.

New Life Ayahuasca offers 5 or 7 day ayahuasca retreats in Italy and Costa Rica. We work to provide a safe spiritual environment that promotes healing during your stay. We have felt the profound effects of this medicine and have made it our mission to help others on their journey to spiritual and personal growth. Our program is designed to give you a curated balance of support and space.

The property encourages a connection to nature, allowing you to disengage from the stresses of life and fully retreat into the experience.  We hope you will join us in taking the first step to healing yourself through the guidance of ayahuasca.

Ayahuasca retreats can be beneficial for anyone, so long as the desire is there. Regardless of an individual's background, an ayahuasca experience can bring about intense emotions and revelations that can lead to a better life. The only thing you need is an open mind and the intention to have an experience that can enhance your spirituality and awareness of life and all that surrounds us.

An ayahuasca retreat in Costa Rica can change your perception of life and all that exists. Many users report a renewed passion for life, an appreciation for nature, and a greater understanding of the ways in which all things are connected.

In more recent years, ayahuasca has been studied for its unique ability to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. Because of the ways ayahuasca can offer renewed perspectives of life, users are able to see a path forward that had previously been veiled. This shift in mindset provides an opportunity to reflect on past experiences/traumas/histories in a different light and from a place of peace

Ayahuasca is generally considered to be safe when used properly, however, there are known risks associated with its use. The primary concern is interactions between ayahuasca and other medications which could many adverse effects, even death. We do not take this responsibility lightly. To ensure the safety of all our guests, we require every potential participant to complete a medical questionnaire over the phone prior to booking.

We pride ourselves on guest satisfaction. We have carefully tailored our retreat in an effort to provide a memorable and therapeutic experience for all our guests. It is very important to us to make you feel comfortable, safe, and secure in our ceremonial environment.
