AFFORDABLE AYAHUASCA RETREAT

Looking for an affordable ayahausca retreat?

When searching for an affordable ayahuasca retreat you might find yourself confused by the huge price differences between retreats. For example, in Peru you might be able to find retreats in the $1500 - $2000 range, whereas in Costa Rica most retreats are in the $3000 - $4000 range. Why is there such a significant difference?

Many factors contribute to the overall pricing of retreats. The first is that Costa Rica is a very expensive country. Prices here are about 3x more expensive than Peru on average. There are a lot of expenses that go into running a retreat including venue rental, food, staff payments, utilities, cost of medicine, transport fees and administrative expenses associated with website, payment processing fees, bank fees, etc.

At the same time, when you look at places that are charging upward of $7000 and taking groups of 20 – 90 people, it is clear to see that the operation is money-motivated. For example, recently we shared a rental space with another retreat that charged double what we charge. They offered the same basic services at the same venue with a similar number of participants and it was very clear that there was no justifiable reason for the extra cost other than being profit-driven.

New Life Ayahuasca Costa Rica strives to offer an affordable ayahuasca retreat option for people seeking healing and growth. Simply, we do this work because we are passionate about it and we are indebted to Ayahuasca for all she has given us in our lives. However, we do need to be able to support ourselves and our staff in this work as our full-time job and sole source of income. You can find a breakdown of our expenses on our website here:

ABOUT US

Hello! We are Jeanae and Matthew, the owners of New Life Ayahuasca.

We are a married couple who found ourselves (and each other!) through plant medicine. We both came from backgrounds of trauma, depression, substance abuse, and hopelessness. With the guidance of plant medicines, we slowly began the lifelong journey of healing.

It was through the wisdom of ayahuasca that we were able to transform our lives. We were able to tap into our internal intuition, find our strength, and see life with a fresh perspective. It is with humble gratitude that we provide a retreat experience for others so that they too may find balance, healing, and self-love.

Since 2015 we have been fully immersed in our work, not only in an effort to help others but to continue to heal ourselves. We created our retreats with an emphasis on tradition, intention, inclusivity, safety, and respect.

Working with ayahuasca is a great responsibility. Every year we continue with this work, we realize how much more there is to learn and how much deeper we can go. We are dedicated to continuing our education in the taditional Peruvian use of ayahuasca.  Every year we travel to the jungles of Iquitos, Peru to complete master plant dietas, studying under the guidance of our teacher, famed shaman Don Ron Wheelock

According to Peruvian traditions, completing master plant dietas is the single most important and effective way to learn to work with ayahuasca and other powerful plants. During dietas you develop a relationship with the spirits of the plants to gain allies, protectors, defenders, and healers. You can then call upon these spirits in the ceremony space to assist with the energetic needs of each participant.

During the dieta's we learn our Icaros, or medicine songs. Some of these songs come from our teacher and are passed down through generations, while other songs come directly from the spirit of the plants themselves. These powerful songs are used in the ayahuasca ceremonies to initiate healing. It is with great reverence and honor that we bring these lessons of Peruvian traditions into ayahuasca Costa Rica retreat.

INTENTION OF CEREMONIES

Our intention is to share the magic of ayahuasca by creating a safe and sacred space where our guests can explore the depths of their soul. We honor the gravity of the trust that is placed in us by every participant that chooses our retreat.

Working with ayahuasca has been a challenging experience over the years, and it is not without immense gratitude that we continue to host these retreats. It is humbling to do this work. We sacrifice a lot of ourselves in service to ayahuasca and helping others, but it is not without the reward of healing ourselves and developing lifelong friendships.

Ayahuasca was the light at the end of the tunnel in the darkest times of our lives. We are truly indebted to plant medicine for giving us all that we have, including each other.

AYAHUASCA SAFETY

Your physical and emotional safety is our highest priority.

While ayahuasca is very safe when used properly, there are a few medical conditions as well as medications that are contraindicated. During the booking process, you will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire to ensure that you can safely participate in an ayahuasca retreat. In case of emergency, both Matt and Jeanae are certified in CPR and have trained with the use of our AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Our intimate groups ensure that we can provide quality service and attention to each guest. Every ceremony is supported by 4 staff: Our ayahuasqueros, Matthew and Jeanae drink ayahuasca with each group at every ceremony to help guide the experience. They are always supported by at least two additional helpers - one male and one female to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable during such a vulnerable and emotional experience.
